Convention 09

So I recently got back from my first Convention as a pastor. For some reason I thought it may be a little weird but as it turns out it was so much more relaxing.

I don't know what it was, but it was a whole lot easier than I was expecting.

It was, in my opinion, one of the best conventions in recent memory. The speaker was non-heretical. His name was Robert Madu and he knew what he was talking about and didn't force anything on the students. The typical Holy Spirit night wasn't anything like years past when it sounded like people were dying. He knew how to bring the word and was able to relate to it.

The first night he spoke on Adam and Eve and how we are always so focused on I. And I is always the center of our problems. It is interesting that the two weeks before convention, I spoke on how are so focused on I and the my friend Ben Davis spoke on how we run from God just as Adam and Eve did. Funny how God had that planned.

Robert Madu also said something that doesn't sound too profound but it was something I needed to hear: "The longer you focus on something, the stronger it becomes." And it is so true in ministry. I often lose sight of my repsonsibilities as a pastor as focus too much attention on other things. Where is my focus?

I love all of my students here at Simple Life. I am truly blessed to be where I am today. I am so excited to see what God is doing in the lives of these students.

I'm excited to start living less of me.
